Our story
A simple idea from a small Kerry parish.
Where it began — Laune Rangers, the cost of living, and a Healthy Club idea.
The most vulnerable in the community were paying a heavy price for energy companies' opaque pricing and people forgetting to renew contracts.
The first switches.
Volunteers started helping members with their bills after matches and meet ups. The savings stunned them — hundreds of euro per household per year. €565 was the biggest saving made by a member who made a nice donation to the club.
The club did help members make the switch with their providers and that is where Garda Vetting is important.
GAA standard Garda Vetting covers working with underage kids and vunerable adults which is important.
What "money stays in the community" really means.
A member saving €400 a year is a member who can spend €400 in the local shop, the local club shop, the local takeaway. Multiply that across a club and a parish.
Why WhatsApp.
Most members already have it. Older members are comfortable with it. No new app to download, no new password to remember. Bills come in as photos; reports go back as PDFs.
